There are few positions on the football field as unglamorous as fullback, but few positions are as important to the Stanford running game. Owen Marecic, Ryan Hewitt, and Lee Ward were all critical lead blockers helping to clear the way for tailbacks Stepfan Taylor and Tyler Gaffney over the past few years, and Daniel Marx appears ready to pick up right where those men left off.
Coming out of Mission Viejo High School, one of the strongest programs in Southern California, Marx has all the tools necessary to be a successful fullback in the Stanford system. His game film shows him making one crushing block after another, but he also slips out of the backfield to jump into the passing game. (Hello, spider 3 Y banana.) Marx promises to be a key figure in the Stanford offense within two years or so.
