Only four days ago, just when it appeared that Stanford's 2014 recruiting class was fully formed, four-star offensive tackle Reilly Gibbons rethought his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes and announced his commitment to the Stanford Cardinal. His signing today gives the Cardinal another elite offensive line prospect and emphasized what should be the motto for the Tunnel Workers Union: We don't rebuild, we reload.
Rivals.com ranks Gibbons as the 19th-best offensive tackle recruit in America, and the nation's top programs agree. Aside from Miami, Gibbons also turned down offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and South Carolina, amongst others. At 6'6" and 278 pounds, Gibbons clearly has the size of an offensive lineman, but he's athletic enough that he also appears to have designs on playing some tight end. Either way, he's coming to the right place.
