Before we jump ahead to look at a dangerous game against the Washington Huskies, let's wrap up Saturday's win over the Washington State Cougars. You might remember that we featured a Cougar preview courtesy of Lucas Nurmi of the WSU Football Blog. Lucas and I connected again on Monday morning so that he could give me his impressions of the Mighty Card after watching them for the first time. Here's what he had to say:
Stanford is clearly the second best team in the Pac-10, and if they and Oregon both win out, the Cardinal should play in the Rose Bowl! They challenged the young Wazzu defense all day to stop Power Right and Power Left, and on the whole, the Cougs were not up to the task. Harbaugh went for it at least twice on 4th and three or less and had no issue converting. Andrew Luck, while not putting up gaudy numbers, was very consistent and methodical in going 20/28 for 190 yards. None of the Cardinal wide receivers stood out to me, as I believe Chris Owusu was sitting out. The only thing that should scare this team is if they get matched up against a team that can throw the ball and stop the run. That clearly will not be the case when they head north this coming weekend to take on the up and down Washington Huskies. Go Cardinal!
